Yann Seznec's sound installation is created from hundreds of fans controlled by real-time weather data. Drawing on wind conditions in South Africa, New Zealand, England, Canada and India, Seznec's composition offers a portrait, at once accurate and abstract, of the commonwealth, exploring ideas of distance, data, modern convenience and memory. 'Currents' is one of a number of newly commissioned works for the eleventh Edinburgh Art Festival.

"I am very flattered and extremely excited to be selected for the New Music Biennial. This project will bring my work to a truly global audience, and I can't wait to get started." Yann Seznec

"We are delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to this nationwide celebration of new music. As the UK’s largest annual visual art festival taking place alongside the world’s largest performing arts festival, we offer a unique context for experiencing major cross art form commissions by Scottish, UK and international artists."
