Listening to the music on this disc, one is immediately aware that it is the product of a highly cultured personality, a mind equally at home in the First Symphony's complex, semi-abstract musical argument as in discerning the sublets nuances of Apollinaire's poetry in the Apollinaire Choruses. This is thinking music. intellectual as well as sensual, and it demands a similar range of responses from its listeners.
