Gary Carpenter's witty and dramatic writing style has featured in numerous films - including The Wicker Man and The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy - as well as on TV, in the opera house and concert hall.
The works on this portrait album cover his period as composer in residence for the RLPO’s specialist new music group, Ensemble 10/10, and include the increasingly riotous Mozart tribute, Ein Musikalisches Snookerspiel for wind octet; After Braque, a sonic tour de force with a line-up including 2 saxophones, mandolin and accordion; Van Assendelft’s Vermeer, for clavichord; and Die Flimmerkiste - German slang for 'the flicks', a record of a riotous two years spent in small-town Germany.

REVIEWS
'Playing and recording here leave nothing to be desired, and Carpenter's notes are as entertaining as his music. Those unfamiliar with the latter have now no excuse not to make its acquaintance.' Gramophone
